Swing Set is celebrating its fifteenth year as one of the busiest acts on the local music scene. Maybe that's because Swing Set performs music that's way outside the ever-fluctuating boundaries of what's currently hip. Instead, Swing Set aims for classic hip, blending tunes from more than a half-century ago- written by the likes of Cab Calloway, Slim Gaillard and Lionel Hampton with originals that aim for the same swinging groove.
Swing Set is much more than a Swing band, they play from the Great American Songbook, arranged in their own inimitable style. The current lineup includes guitar, upright bass, drums, sax and trombone with the bass man doubling on a brac mandolin. Since 1989, Swing Set has performed regularly in places like The Adam's Mark Hotel, numerous St. Louis nightclubs and resturants, music festivals and scores of wedding receptions and private parties.
