Biography: The St. Louis Ragtimers were formed in September 1961 to play on the riverboats in St. Louis and have performed continuously since then at jazz and ragtime concerts and festivals. Home base for the St. Louis Ragtimers in the early days was the historic Goldenrod Showboat, where the group hosted an annual Traditional Jazz and Ragtime Festival each summer in the late 1960s to 1980s. The St. Louis Ragtimers play a dynamic style of ragtime and dixieland jazz. Featured were Phil Mason on coronet, Al Striker on banjo, Don Franz on tuba and Trebor Tichenor on the piano. They have recorded more than a half dozen LPs and CDs and several years ago the St. Louis Ragtimers were featured on the NBC Today Show.
