The Downtown Trio
The Downtown Trio is St Louis' premier jazz group, emerging from the U City jazz scene, which has produced a tremendous number of world - class jazz musicians. Although they excel at fusion jazz, this group can play all styles. The Downtown Trio has performed at the Riverport Jazz Festival, as well as warming up for major jazz tours including Al DiMeola, Michael Franks, the Yellowjackets, David Benoit, Hugh Masakela, Dave Weckl, and John Patitucci. The Downtown Trio's music can be heard in dozens of TV and radio productions, commercials, and films.
Rob Silverman's energetic style has made him a first call drummer in the St. Louis area for years. His command of jazz, Latin, funk, Greek, African and many other world rhythms has made him one of the most innovative drummers on the scene today. Mike Silverman is the principal composer for the Downtown Trio, but his musical concepts always begin with imagining what unique textures can be created in a jazz trio setting. Matt Bollinger's 6-string bass technique is integral to the Downtown Trio's new compositions. He moves easily from grooving low-end walks to unison and harmony lines to melodic solos in the upper register of his C string.
