Butch Wax and the Hollywoods

Biography:

Butch Wax & The Hollywoods is an 11-piece band from St. Louis, Missouri. The band includes 2 female singers and a 3-piece horn section. They have performed at numerous sold out events throughout the Midwest for nearly 20 years. The past 3 years they have been the featured band at all of the St. Louis Rams Football Games, playing in front of the Edward Jones Dome at the KTRS 550 Rams Radio Tailgate Parties. Butch Wax wrote and recorded the Rams Super Bowl Anthem "Gotta Go To Work" in 1999 (with pal Smash on vocals) and performed it at all of the Rams Rallies and Games during that magical Super Bowl season. The song became a mantra for St. Louis as The Rams and "Gotta Go To Work" electrified St. Louis and the Nation! The Rams went on to win the Super Bowl and the band performed the song at the Rams Super Bowl Victory Parade Celebration on January 31, 2000 in downtown St. Louis. More than 300,000 screaming fans jammed the streets of St. Louis and Kiener Plaza as Rams players and coaches arrived at the Main Stage in Dodge Ram Trucks. Camera Crews from all over the country were on hand as the Rams players, coaches, government dignitaries, national celebrities and 300,000 fans joined in singing a revved up 15 minute version of "Gotta Go To Work" with Butch Wax, Johnnie Johnson, and Smash! Butch Wax also wrote and recorded the Cardinals song "Pennant Fever/DÈj‡ vu 82" and the Hockey Blues song "Let's Go Blues". All 3 songs featured Johnnie Johnson on piano and Butch Wax pal Smash from KLOU 103 on vocals.

Butch Wax & The Hollywood's are also featured throughout Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Johnnie Johnson's new CD on tracks with Bonnie Raitt, Johnny Rivers, Bruce Hornsby, and John Sebastian. Johnnie Johnson is a long time resident of St. Louis and he and Chuck Berry were partners in writing and recording some of the biggest rock and roll songs of all time including "Maybelline" "Roll Over Beethoven" "Sweet Little 16" and "School Days". Johnnie has performed and recorded with other music greats like Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, The Kentucky Headhunters, John Sebastian, Robert Cray, Johnny Rivers, John Lee Hooker, Bruce Hornsby, Bob Weir, Etta James, and many others. Eric Clapton calls Johnnie, "The best blues piano player in the world"! You never know when this true legend or other special guests will be sitting in with Butch Wax, so don't miss any of their performances!
